Finding a Good Kayak Deal
Price matters, but fit, condition, suitability, and safety matter more.
Compare the whole package
A low price is not a deal if the boat is the wrong size or type. Compare outfitting, repair history, transport needs, included equipment, return policy, and whether you can inspect or demo the boat.
Buying used
Look for deep gouges, oil-canning, cracks, soft spots, damaged outfitting, missing hardware, and repairs. Ask where and how the boat was stored. If you are unsure, bring an experienced paddler or instructor.
